It’s not your house. It’s not your car. It’s not your business. And its not money either.
Do you know what it is?
It is your time. Your time is the most valuable and precious asset you have. If you lose your house, car or business, you can make these back. Once your time is gone it’s gone.
Loads of people who were millionaires lost all their fortune and then became millionaires again. Peter Jones from Dragons Den and American Inventor who was a millionaire – but then got bankrupt. However he turned it all around and is now worth an estimated £475 million.
Have you ever been to a boring lecture that you never received any value from or just plain wasted your time watching a rerun of a TV show? The time you invested in any of those tasks you are not going to get back, it is gone forever.
Its like the quote from the movie Blade Runner by Rutger Hauer’s character “All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain.” This quote is actually said after Hauer’s character saves Harrison Ford’s character from falling. I don’t want to spoil the movie for you but the quote is saying In the end all memories and everything get lost in time.
Don’t just waste your time doing unproductive things or things that don’t matter. If you don’t know how to manage your time or want to become more productive then there are plenty of articles on this blog to help you out.
Your Time Is Very Limited
You might think I have all the time in the world. You might be thinking to yourself that right now I am only young and I have the rest of my life ahead of me to actually do all the things that I want, that’s why I’m going to relax or chill now.
But that is the wrong way to think. You can die at any time. Check out this list of celebrities who died under 30. But death doesn’t just come to celebrities it hits everyone. Every soul shall taste death.
Now I don’t mean to be pessimistic about life. You have to make sure you leave an impact on the world. Whether that is helping people out in need and having your own foundation like actor Paul Walker among many others. Or even creating/inventing your own products/services that help solve people’s problems like Thomas Edison, Steve Jobs or millions of other entrepreneurs in the world. or you can even build your own business empire like Richard Branson.
It doesn’t have to be on a big scale either, make sure you do good with other people, help them out in times of need and leave your legacy.
I think co-founder of Apple, Steve Jobs explains my point better with this quote:
“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma – which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of other’s opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.”
On your death bed in your final moments, are you going to be thinking about all the TV shows or movies that you missed out on. “Damn, I should have watched Game of Thrones” or “I should have been a Belieber and listened to Justin Bieber more”.
I highly doubt anyone is going to have those kind of thoughts or regrets on their deathbed. They will more likely be thinking of what they are going to leave behind. Or what their legacy is or what they are passing onto the next generation.
Or they might even think about all the time they wasted and how they should have actually done something with that time instead of wasting it.

I also use the app to improve my productivity by using in for checklists. I write down whatever I have to do during the day and just tick off whatever I have done. So for example, I might have send email to developer and write an article on my list and just tick it off whenever I have done the certain task.

Who doesn’t LOVE freebies? I know I do! A couple of months back, as per Exact Target, 36% of buyers likes a fan page to get a freebie or a specimen.
Here is an individual story, a couple of weeks back; I was scanning for Photoshop activities to help me enhance my photocopying abilities. A Photoshop activity is ‘preset altering’ and one can just snap a catch to have a photograph altered by settings.
I then unearthed Paint the Moon site and soon found that they were doling out free Photoshop activities for the individuals who like their Facebook page. It didn’t take me long to go onto their page to like their page to download the freebie.
Today, I’m an immense fanatic of their item. I’m utilizing the Photoshop activity and am now considering buying their accumulations to take my Photoshop aptitude to the following level. Not just am I a massively grateful potential client, I am additionally an important group of onlookers that is likely to come back to their page to process their updates.
7. Use Promoted Posts
Keep in mind the maxim ‘people with similarities tend to form little niches’? Elevated presents are utilized on target individuals of comparable interest that are joined with you. It can be exceptionally compelling for businesses in the event that they utilize it astutely.
Businesses need to have a finished objective that would help develop your business. Advanced posts can be seen as a ‘vote of certainty’ from yourself to your loved ones – as it were you’re letting them know that you have believed the post and they ought to do likewise to.
8. Utilization advanced posts when:
You’re doling out something valuable that fans will like and they will tell their companions.
Running social networking challenges. Fans loves challenge and advancing it would help get the virility you have to spread your challenge as well as your image mindfulness.
You’re hoping to catch more messages for your mailing rundown.
Those are five basic yet successful routines that can be utilized to help you develop your page and your business with Facebook. A standout amongst the most vital tips is to make sense of how you can be a piece of the conversation on Facebook rather than simply transforming your page into a promotional feed.
9. Facebook Contest
A challenge is another great way to develop fans and develop your business on Facebook. What is the contrast between a freebie and a challenge? Indeed, a freebie can comprise of lower-quality things, for example, one Photoshop activity from a whole gathering – generally to simply give them a feeling of what they would be purchasing. A Facebook challenge could really win them something enormous, maybe the whole gathering or a private consultation with their in-house originators.
The motivation behind why challenges work is on the grounds that they help develop fans on a page, as well as it serves to develop email leads as well. Most Facebook outsider challenge applications like Binkd accompanies an email catch frame that would should be finished before fans can participate.
Two years prior, my sweetheart began Leneys, an e-trade ladies’ attire store. To help give a support to her Facebook page, she facilitated a Facebook challenge doling out some of her attire. The challenge did as such well; it attracted more than 2,000 fans. Today, it has more than 22,000 fans and many of them whom participated in the challenge got to be steadfast clients until today.
I’m certain you’ve known about the idiom ‘quality written substance is all that matters’. That is just halfway genuine and, as I would see it, substance and group needs to coincide.
In the event that you need to develop your business with Facebook, you must be continually including quality and engagement your page. Great substance would absolutely help you to do that, however great substance is squandered and ineffectual in the event that you don’t have a strong group to show your substance to.
Begin by growing a group before you begin advancing. The motivation to do as such is on account of you need to fabricate trust inside of your group, and your group need to trust that you would telecast valuable substance that will increase the value of them. Individuals will just purchase from you when they have believed your business.
A markdown is another way to grow a business with Facebook. As per the same study by Exact Target, 40% of clients like a page to get a markdown.
Here are two or three methodologies when doling out rebates:
a.) Like a page to get markdown
The easiest would be requesting that somebody like a page so as to get a concealed markdown code that they can utilize when they pay at your nearby store or pay when they checkout from an online store.
b.) Like an item for rebate
This one is marginally distinctive, unlike prior, it obliges somebody to like an item to get a rebate. To illustrate it better, here is a sample by For Human Peoples, a shirt and notice organization.
As should be obvious, when somebody taps the like catch, they get a code for a 5% rebate. When they do, not just will they get a 5% rebate, little doubt remains on their profile as well.

Fiverr is a good way to make money. In case you don’t know what Fiverr is it is a website which you can offer anything to potential buyers for $5. This can include anything from a service or even sending a physical product. When I mean you can sell anything, I mean anything. Check out this gig and this gig.
I have been selling on Fiverr for quite a while now and to date I have made 257 sales. Obviously not all these orders were for $5 and with the addition of extras I may have made more on each order.
If you are new to Fiverr and want to make money on Fiverr but you don’t know where to get started I recommend you check out this article that shows you some easy gigs you can start right away. As well as that you should check out this article on promoting your gigs the right way.
From my time selling on selling on Fiverr I have learnt a lot of things on how you can have a thriving business and what you can do to earn more money in your business. In this article I will share with you the various things I learned by making over 200 sales on Fiverr. I will show you how I make money on Fiverr.
1. Provide Value
The number one thing you should be doing when selling on Fiverr is providing value. Actually you should be doing that in any business. And you shouldn’t just be providing value, ideally you should be over delivering.
If you over-deliver the customer will be over the moon and they would be likely to recommend you to other people and come back to you again to order from you again. This is the number one thing you should be doing if you want to make money on Fiverr.
The thing I normally do is that I either give them a free bonus which can be in the form of a free ebook, report or checklist or I either deliver it to them much quicker than the estimated delivery date. You can even do both, your customers will surely be delighted.
You could also offer a money back guarantee if your customer does not like the final product.
2. Never EVER Deliver Your Orders Late
Don’t deliver your orders late. I learned the hard way. People on Fiverr like punctuality on their orders and want them for when you say you will deliver them for.
If you have a legitimate reason to deliver the order late like your dog died or your goldfish got flushed down the toilet then fair enough. You can email your customer and explain to him. I’m sure they would understand if your goldfish got flushed down the toilet. But if you don’t have a proper reason then deliver your order before time.
Don’t make it into a routine of delivering your customers orders late. Otherwise it will come to bite you back in the ***. You will get negative ratings and once the negative ratings start to add up you will notice that your sales will drop.
According to Fiverr if you deliver a gig late it can result in 10% lower buyer activity. This can be because buyers start to lose trust in you. If you are struggling to meet deadlines you can always change the delivery times to suit you.
3. Keep it Simple
Make it easy for your customer to understand what they will be getting and what they will need to do and what you will be needing from them. For instance if you have a gig that offers custom logos, you will probably be needing the customers business name, what colours they want to use in their logo and what style they want. Make it clear for the customer so they can understand.
Don’t use over complicated words or jargon to explain your gig. Simplify your gig description to let them know what the customer will be getting, what your gig extras do and how long your average delivery time is (remember over deliver).
Another good thing that I do is when I am delivering the customers order, in the delivery message I put check out my other gigs as well as asking them to subscribe to my email list. You can put anything else such as asking them to like you on Facebook, follow you on Twitter or leave a positive review.
4. Offer Discounts
Discounts enable you take your business and your gig sales to the next level. For example you can if you sell custom ebook covers, you can put an offer together that if your customers buy 3 covers they get the 4th for free.
This will not only increase sales but will also help with conversations, customer retention and loyalty. Your customers will keep on coming back to you and they will recommend you to their friends and others. Just remember the first rule. Provide value and over deliver.

Many people spend their entire lives chasing one thing. Do you know what it is? They spend most of their lives chasing money. Most people spend a lot of time of their life making money, chasing money and just doing near enough anything for money.
Some people will go to any length to get more money. They do not have a limit. Check out this story of what people will do for money. Here are some more disgusting jobs people do for money. Loads of people spend their entire lives making money.
Some people will even go as far as killing their own loved ones for money. Whereas there are people out there who just do plain retarded stuff. But why?
In this article you will find out why people do what they do for money, why some people want more than others and what you should be doing instead.
Why Making Money Is Useless?
Back in my granddads day people used to work to make money for one simple reason. To survive. They did it to provide for their family and make sure that they would not go hungry. They did it to make sure they weren’t cold at night.
Yes they did have more of a struggle making money back then. But they did value money more back that as well.
However if you are making money, it can buy you a lot more things than just food and drink. Money can get you more respect, more power, bigger house(s), better cars, better education, better help (butlers, driver, chef, etc), more opportunities and other materialistic possessions (Smartphones, Tablets, Games Console, TVs, etc).
But why do we want these things? What makes us buy these things? What drives us to make the purchase and spend our hard earned cash on these things.
One of the main things that drives us to buy the latest smartphone or buy the latest gadget is because of clever marketing. It is placed into our heads and we have that constant remainder of it in our heads.
According to a report by The Guardian we are bombarded by up to 3,500 ads everyday during an average day. This leaves it constantly in our heads and our brains are thinking about the latest gadget everyday. So that is why we are tempted so much to buy the latest iPhone when walking past the Apple store.
“Man, I see in fight club the strongest and smartest men who’ve ever lived. I see all this potential, and I see squandering. God damn it, an entire generation pumping gas, waiting tables; slaves with white collars. Advertising has us chasing cars and clothes, working jobs we hate so we can buy shit we don’t need. We’re the middle children of history, man. No purpose or place. We have no Great War. No Great Depression. Our Great War’s a spiritual war… our Great Depression is our lives. We’ve all been raised on television to believe that one day we’d all be millionaires, and movie gods, and rock stars. But we won’t. And we’re slowly learning that fact. And we’re very, very pissed off.” – Tyler Durden. Fight Club.
Another thing is we are always wanting to compete with other people and deep down most people want to make people jealous with the things they have. Some people just want to show of the fact that they can afford a Ferrari. Or even just to prove that teacher wrong that said that they would never amount to anything and just be a cleaner.
To many people money is a measure of success. For example if Person A has lets say, a couple of million dollars in their bank account. Person B sees how much Person A has and might think ‘this guy has made it’ and would think he is successful.
How long do you spend working?
Lets imagine the average full time employing working 9-5 everyday for 5 days a week. The average employee spends 40 hours working a week. Some even spend more than that a week working.
Some people spend that sort of time at a job they do not like and hate. Why would you spend doing something that you do not like just for money? Making money should not be the only reason you work at your job. If it is then you seriously need to look for something else.
One third of your life is actually used up working. That is 30% of your life which is a massive chunk of your life. This percentage does not including travelling/commuting time and getting ready. Throughout your life that is 99,117 hours spent at work in total on average.
Why would you spend the majority of life working for someone else and trying to get him or her rich. What would be the point of doing that? You would just be making your boss richer then they already are.
You can just start your own business and work for yourself and make more money then your boss and his boss combined.
Is Money the Root of All Evil?
Now I am not saying that is the root of all evil. Once you are making money, it can provide you with some awesome things. Donating money to charity or someone who needs it more. Donating money to people who need it for life saving operations. Providing infrastructure for countries or people that do not have it. Provide joy and happiness to others.
Money can generally change the world and make the world a better place. Money can bring change, bring joy and happiness to the world.
Making money does and can cause humans to behave rather greedily. It is like kinda like a drug. Once you start take a couple of hits of a drug you are hooked which is similar to money, once you start to make money you just want to make more and more.
You do not see anything else. That does not happen to everyone but there are many people out there who are hooked to money and have some kind of attachment to it.
“The greatest legacy is that which benefits the widest number of people for the longest period without limit to value. No one but the Prophet Muhammad was given that role as the seal of God’s message.” – Cat Stevens
Really it doesn’t matter how much money you have because after you make a certain amount of money it is all a numbers game.
Let’s say you are the richest man or woman in the world. You had billions of dollars in the bank. What would you buy? A couple of expensive properties across the world? A couple of super cars? Your own private island, maybe? You can really buy whatever you heart desires.
But do you really need billions of dollars in your bank account to buy all that? Not at all! They do say more money brings more problems. When you have that much money, you going to have loads of people hating on you, getting jealous and more expenses. Life isn’t all about making money.
Leaving a Legacy Behind
Instead of trying to earn more money and spending your entire life on a quest to get more money you should spend your time in leaving your legacy behind.
Your time is actually limited. We don’t know when we are going to die neither do we know what is going to happen in the future. No-one can tell the future.
If you know your time is limited in this world why would you waste that time working for someone else just so you could be making money. You will not be able to keep your money with you when you die.
“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma – which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition.” – Steve Jobs.
People are not going to remember you for how much money you had. They will remember you for what you did. They will remember you for the change that you made to the world. They will remember you for your legacy.
Think about it. All the great people out there past and present have are remembered for their legacy. The great Steve Jobs who was the pioneer of the iPhone, iPad and iPod and also founder Apple and Pixar changed the way people listen to music, communicate and much more.
Mark Zukerberg the man behind the sensational Facebook helps people connect with each other and make friends. He changed the way people communicate and meet each other. He wants to make the world more connected.
The greatest boxer of all time Muhammad Ali was not only a great boxer but he was a great man as well. He worked hard on getting justice and equality for black people while also volenteering, helping, contributing and donating to charities.
All 3 of these people have a great legacy and will leave something behind that people will remember because they changed and impacted the world. These people never had making money as one of their primary goals. Their are countless amounts of people who have a legacy which after they die people will remember them for. Be one of those people.
Instead of trying to earn a ridiculous amount of money, work on building your legacy. Work on changing and impacting the world. Work on leaving your mark on the world. Making money is a by-product of being successful.
Making money is useless. You should work on building your legacy.
What do you think about money? Do you think it is important? Let me know what you think in the comment section below.
The way we care for ourselves mentally and physically has as much to do with being a successful business person as does any of the entrepreneurial routines we do. In this business series we are covering the body, mind and spirit of the entrepreneur. It’s nice to see how our daily health and schedule routines stack up to what surveys and interviews have told the world that our successful entrepreneurs are doing.
Most of us think that because we are entrepreneurs we are now a machine. We eat, drink, sleep and digest work 24/7. We believe we have to be ‘on’ constantly and burn ourselves out in order to reach success. We don’t. We are our own worst enemy when it comes to feeling guilty about how much work we needed to be doing in order to justify our days off. Making sure we are not killing ourselves in the interim is the key to our success. We won’t have anything to give our business or our clients of we look and feel overtly burned out!
So, what do successful entrepreneurs do? They make sure they create and maintain daily health and well-being routines. Sticking to it has its many rewards. You have to simply prioritize the important aspects of your life to create a balance. Not everything that works for you will work for someone else. You have to come to the determination of what works best for you. Only you know what your priorities are. Don’t make the mistake that so many others make. Don’t try and model your priorities around someone else. You are like a finger print and are vastly different from others. So, treat your schedule and routine this way.
If you are a morning person then capitalize on that. Wake up and be ready for the day! If you do lousy in the middle of the day then take a few hours off—take a nap or read for fun, meditate. Do whatever gets you back on track.
Exercise in the Morning:
As much as so many of us want to not do this—we have found through polls and interviews with the most successful entrepreneurs that exercise of some sort—even just walking is the key to a healthy head that is clear and ready to work. Blood flow and lymph circulation are essential for a clear mind and healthy body. We have to have a healthy mind in order to process the information we will be collecting all day.
The fact that everyone says this is the most important mean of the day is no myth. It’s essential. Your body has been resting and healing itself all night. So, now it needs fuel other than coffee and stimulants to get started. If you don’t you’ll experience fatigue crash by the early afternoon and this is a real productivity downer.
Get Up Before the Family:
Most successful female entrepreneurs will actually get up one hour prior to the family in order to get some time to themselves. There is a lot to be said for this. The best rituals are the ones that will put you in the mood you need to be in for the day. If by chance you start off your day badly or negatively in any way, you will snowball that into your day for sure.
Crazy Routines of the Famous and Successful:
Winston Churchill, one of the former Prime Ministers of England had an unlikely routine. However it is a great example of tailoring what works for your success and it will certainly pull you out of your 9-5 grind.
Churchill would begin his day in bed until 11:00am. He woke at 7:30. He was brought his breakfast, made his secretaries take dictation and read his mail.
He stopped by his office space in the house for about an hour and then, ate lunch from 1:00 to 3:30 pm with colleagues and family. Discussed his day and made small talk over a 3-4 course meal. He believed that quality time made him better at what he did. He worked until roughly 5pm and engaged in a nap for about an hour and a half. Then, he worked until dinner at 8pm. This is with the same family and his guests. He would then work for another hour or so before turning in again.
Set Goals in the Morning:
First, give yourself a list of choices. If you meditate and exercise then make it an either or choice. Give yourself plenty of flexibility so you don’t feel in a forced rut. If you are a night owl—then try to get the bulk of your work done at night. You can even work this around deadlines you have with clients if you work smart. Choose the beginning of the week for prioritizing your schedule for rest of the week. Mondays can be for that. If you are the type of person that likes weekends off—this is a great way to make it feel as if you have another off day to just reorganize your week! This will give you the energy you need for what you need to do the rest of the week. You would be surprised at the psychological impact a Monday has. There has been songs made about it like “Manic Monday” etc… so, you know that if you view Mondays as a hectic day—then it will be. If you are this type of person—make it a better Monday by using it as a lead in to the week and not a fully fledged business day. You may just see that your week is a lot better and you are so much more productive. This way, the weekend can be yours. All yours.
Creative Work May Be Best When Tired:
When you’re tired, sometimes you may fare better doing whatever creative work you have. Make sure you are putting off any strenuous administrative work at that time. Now, your body clock will tell you a lot of things. One, it will tell you when to sleep, eat and work. You may or may not have the luxury to do everything according to your body clock. If you can though, listen to it as much as possible. Even if it’s one to two times a day. You’ll feel so much better and think so much clearer if you aren’t working through hunger or fighting off tired.
Watch Your Alarm Clock:
Believe it or not—the way we wake up has a lot to do with the alarm clock sounds we wake up to. That incredibly harsh generic alarm clock sound can send waves of stress through our body’s. The best alarm clocks are those that mimmick nature like chirping birds or water falls or pleasant classical or meditation music.
Winding Down from Work:
Winding down from work takes a routine that works for you specifically. The best advice out there is to disengage from the work day. This means all electronic equipment being turned off. After a certain hour, no notifications are on and nothing gets checked. Make sure that if you have family that may need to get to you that you have a certain ring tone for them as well as a text tone. This way, if you need to speak to them you can and ignore the rest. It’s important that we are closed off from the world at night. Sleep and total relaxation before bedtime is essential.
Write in a Journal:
Yes write in a non business journal. Do the “Dear Diary” type of personal journaling and make it positive. Write your gratitude for what you have accomplished and not only that—what you have taken for granted that you have in your life right now. It doesn’t matter how silly it looks or sounds. It doesn’t matter how large or small it is. It can be about the weather was great today and I am so grateful. My kid brought home a B on their report card and I am so grateful today. I have healthy senses to hear and see all the beauty around me on my walk today—I am so grateful for that! After you’ve done this for so long—maybe a matter of weeks—you’ll see a change—a big change.
Being an entrepreneur or a successful business person is more about how you take care of yourself than it is about any business strategy. It’s a general lifestyle because each thing will affect something else. You are made successful by being clear minded and focused on what you need to accomplish. You can’t be an innovator if you are battling sleep deprivation or malnutrition. If we have ill health of the body, mind or spirit we cannot be fruitful. It’s interesting and comforting to know that from the least to the best entrepreneurs the advice is not that different at all.
As an entrepreneur, you probably measure your level of success on a day to day basis. And you want that to grow every day as often as it can.
But the question is: Are you enabling that growth? Are you more successful today than yesterday? What about tomorrow? A week from now? A year from now?
You want your success to keep growing, so you and your business are never just moving along in cruise control. And no matter what type of situation you come across, your time and attention is still spend on improving and growing.
After all, this type of motivation and self-propel mindset are two qualities that almost every entrepreneur has.
Instead of trying to completely overthrow your current routine, there are a few simple steps you can take to help yourself become more successful.
Do you want to become a better entrepreneur? From boosting your productivity to connecting with customers, here are 6 ways you can make sure your success continues to grow.
Rise and shine:
A lot of seriously successful business owners will tell you they’re up before the sun rises. Sometimes before 6 AM, sometimes before 7 AM. And there’s a reason why they all have this in common.
Waking up and getting in the office before anyone helps you stay motivated and focused on the tasks at hand. You can get projects and tasks out of the way before you’re thrown into the sea of daily emails, phone calls and other distractions.
Plus, there is a ton of research and studies that show people who wake up early tend to be happier and healthier. So it’s not just good for your mind – it’s good for your physical health, too!
You don’t have to make this switch overnight. Instead of a dramatic overhaul of your sleep schedule, try this: Set your alarm one minute earlier every day. So if tomorrow is your first day waking up earlier, and you usually wake up at 8 AM, wake up at 7:59 AM. The second day, wake up at 7:58. Keep going until you’ve reached the time you’re working toward.
To make this transition easier, go to bed 1-5 minutes earlier every night. You’ll get the same amount of sleep and be rising with the sun before you know it!
We all like to maintain a healthy lifestyle – or at least as healthy as we can with our busy schedules. But it can be easy to forget that you’re a human, not just an entrepreneur/robot. You need to focus on your well being too. And if you want to absorb more information during the day, you’ll keep reading about why this is important for you and your business.
A few studies have shown that people who get exercise every day are able to weed out irrelevant information that comes their way. This isn’t all – the participants were also able to concentrate better on what was in front of them. Needless to say, this can do wonders for the entrepreneur, since you tend to get every little thing thrown your way during the day. After all, it would be pretty helpful to be able to quickly race through tasks and see what needs your attention now and what can wait until later.
Take a look at your schedule and see when you can squeeze in a jog. If you have a big meeting coming up or lunch with a big client, try to go for a jog. You’ll show up on your A-game and be ready to think. Or give your morning a boost (and yourself an easier wake up!) by taking a job before work. You’ll be impressed with the surprising results it has on your day.
Here’s a concept that a lot of entrepreneurs don’t take advantage of: gratefulness and thankfulness. Your customers are part of the reason why your business is succeeding. And, like you probably tell your staff members, every customer counts, including previous customers.
Reach out to customers you haven’t done business with in a while. Whether you want to send a thank-you note for their business in the past or a gift to let them know you’re thinking of them, either way, you’re doing something great – You’re opening up the lines of communication and getting the customer thinking.
You’re giving their memory a jolt by sending them a token of your appreciation. It’s like saying Hey! Don’t forget all the great things we were able to accomplish for you. Come back when you’re ready to get some business taken care of.
And now, when that customer needs business again, he or she will remember your act of kindness and bring more business your way. It could even help make a short-term professional relationship into a long-term one. And long-term customers are some of the best to have.
Plus, a personalized thank you note from you and your business means so much more than an email. It shows you were really thinking about the person and wanted to bring a certain level of tailored thanks to it.
Organization is the key to many things – and one of those things is ongoing success. An organized workspace and office equals an organized mind. And an organized mind ensures your overall success.
When your workspace is cluttered and full to the brim with papers and files and who knows what else, it sends a message to your brain. That message says one word: CHAOS. Even if you don’t feel like you’re under stress and pressure, your brain is registering the mess around you under that category. So inadvertently, you’re stressing yourself out. And when you’re stressed, everything gets a little messy, from your decisions to your productivity.
So what do you do if your workspace is currently a sloppy mess? You might not have the flexibility to take the time to organize it all in one sitting. Instead, spend the first or the last 20 minutes of your day organizing. And as you go on throughout the day, don’t contribute to the mess!
Find your thing:
Imagine that being an entrepreneurship is much like playing dominos. As you place a domino down, each one gets bigger and bigger. Instead of sitting down and looking at all of the dominos, focus on the one directly in front of you. Dedicate all of your focus to that one specific domino. Once you’ve climbed over it, move to the next.
You might be asking yourself what dominos have to do with being successful. Well, let’s take a look at your to-do list for the day. Do you have a million little tasks on it? Do you feel like absolutely everything on your list needs to get done?
Every little tiny task is not going to propel you forward. In fact, you can easily get caught up in the tiny little things of life and hold yourself back. Instead of wasting time on all of these little tasks, focus on the one thing that’s going to keep you moving forward. Odds are, this is bigger than everything on your to-do list.
No, we aren’t talking about ringing some wedding bells. We’re taking about getting involved in the wonderful world of the Internet.
Reading a book can do awesome things for your creative juices. It can spark some new ideas or give you an entirely new perspective on something. But that’s about all it can do – if you have any questions, odds are you can’t really get them answered.
… Until you turn to the Internet. Various communities and forums are available online and these seemingly simple answers can provide you with some great assistance.
When you get involved with the online community, you can get some answers from your peers. So if you’re struggling with something with your business, and are looking for some real-life answers, you’ve got the place to go. It’ll be a relief to get some professional advice some people who know what it’s like to be in your shoes!
Added bonus: You get to do some networking! Who knows the different types of people (and business owners!) you’ll get to meet every day. You never know who you might meet – and who could help mold you into a more successful person.
Of course, this will never happen if you don’t go ahead and start reaching out to the community.
We know, we know – you’re super busy and might not have the time to do this. But just like you’re making time to clean your workspace and get organized, make time to do this as well.
We get that it might not be easy to make these steps every day. But these improvements are necessary in order for you and your business to continue growing and being successful. While it’s difficult to make time for these seemingly small advancements, it’s imperative to do so. Any little small action or step you can take will lead you in the right direction and help you achieve all types of success.
Have you failed at something before? Odds are, you have at some point in your life, even if you tried your absolute hardest. It happens to the best of us. Sometimes, successful people just fail, despite their heroic efforts. And while you might sit there and scratch your head, wondering why it didn’t work out for you, there’s likely a reason why it happened.
You might think it was from an environmental factor, like another company, or because the economy isn’t so great. And while these are possible answers, you may have been the reason for your own failure.
Often times, there are mental barriers that people unknowingly put up that can hold them back from succeed. These fatal mistakes can sink your ship fast and leave you treading in deep water. Make sure you aren’t falling victim to these malicious mistakes.
When people set their future goals, they’ll usually imagine something at the finish line, like a certain amount of money, a materialistic item (like a new house or car), or even a big achievement (like getting a Pulitzer Prize). You may think these things can help keep you motivated, but they can actually do the opposite.
Your mind is racing and thinking “I’m going to do this to get this, I’m going to get this to do this,” and it’s causing some major havoc. You’re completely missing the point! You should be working one step at a time in order to succeed. And part of success means you’re having a fulfilling life.
Plus, once you get that “thing,” what next? Are you just going to consider your goal accomplished and stop moving forward?
Instead of picturing a specific thing or object you’re working toward, imagine how you’ll feel once you reach your goal instead. You’ll feel full of pride and enlightenment and, most important, you’ll feel successful because you will be successful. And you’ll do whatever is necessary is order to get there.
And once you’ve met the goal, you can move right onto the next one. You’ll be eager to continue to thrive, since it produces such awesome feelings.
Letting fear take over:
It can be difficult to take a giant leap toward that risk. It isn’t easy and sure, you might fail. But what if you don’t? What if you thrive? The potential success that waits on the other side is enough to push you off the edge and take the risk. You can’t let fear take the wheel and determine your path in life. You have to overcome that fear and determine if the risk is worth it.
After all, what if you were afraid to leave your boring job, because you didn’t want to take a financial risk, and now you’ll never own your own business? It can be as simple as picking up the phone to call a possible client, even if they’ve already turned you down. You’re constantly moving forward in order keep yourself going – you can’t let fear stop you in your path.
You have to take these risks in order to achieve the goals you’ve set for yourself. Simple as that. Risks are necessary for success.
Develop the mindset that fear is a temporary feeling for you – and so is failure. If things don’t go your way or according to plan, that doesn’t mean everything has completely derailed. Your plan is still alive and kicking. You’ve just got to direct it back the right way. It’s a small bump in the road and you’ll jump that obstacle as you approach it. But that’s all it is – an obstacle. It’s not the end. You’ve got to keep going.
Being afraid of success
Just like people can be afraid of fear, there are people who are afraid of success, too. Let’s say you’ve achieved one of your top goals – getting a huge amount of income from your business really quickly. Well, what if that doesn’t make you happy like you thought it would? What if you don’t have the clients and recognition you thought would come along with it? Now what are you supposed to do? What if your family and friends started treating you differently? What if people had significantly higher and different expectations of you? What if you let everyone down? What if you can still fail and it’ll hurt even more? How will you bounce back from a failure now?
You could drive yourself crazy asking these kinds of questions. And it’s a surefire way to freaking out even the most motivated person. You’re headed right towards sabotaging yourself.
Here’s how you can get past that – you have to tell yourself that you will be happy, no matter what the circumstances. Instead of dedicating all of your focus to worrying about problems, focus on how great it’ll feel to succeed. It’s a feeling unlike any other.
Plus, you can help those around you succeed, too. From family members to friends, people will come to understand that you’re the go-to person for help, since you’ve already proven your methods to be successful. And you’ll get a great feeling when you help out those you love.
When you come up with a game plan, you probably want to execute it RIGHT. THIS. SECOND. But that isn’t the way to success. Remember the expression ‘slow and steady wins the race’? Yeah, that’s the mindset you’ve got to develop and maintain.
A lot of people make the mistake of severely overestimating what they can accomplish in a week’s time. They think Okay, I can just put everything else on hold for a week or two and bang out this plan.
But that isn’t really how things work, especially because then you underestimate what you should accomplish in a year. Everything starts getting all messed up and before you know it, you can’t make your timeline for longer than a week from right now.
Odds are, you’re trying to jam in too many actionable tasks into a short term schedule. Instead, these events should be evenly spaced out over a longer schedule.
Think about what this does to your motivation. When you set these unrealistic time limits for yourself, you probably aren’t going to meet them. And when you don’t meet them, you’re going to get discouraged. And when you get discouraged, you’re going to lose motivation. So you’re either going to fail or feel like you’ve failed. And that takes a huge toll on your entire process.
You want to set realistic goals and a timeline for yourself. This way, you’ll be helping yourself achieve what you want.
To avoid burning yourself out with an unrealistic timeline, create a list of everything you need to do in order to get to your goal – and we mean everything: activities, events, steps, training, everything. Then set up your schedule so there’s some extra room in between. If all of one day is going to be spent on a difficult task, switch to an easier task the next day. Your brain will appreciate the break. Try to limit yourself to 2-3 extremely difficult items a week. Either way, remember you’re on your way to success. There’s no rush – slow and steady!
Worrying, worrying, worry:
Face it – we all worry. We worry about things like bills and health and jobs. We worry about leaving one job for another. We worry about a major career change. We worry, worry, worry.
But worrying doesn’t change anything about the situation. The only thing worrying changes is your mindset. And when you keep worrying about problems or bumps you may run into, it can seriously discourage you and take you further away from your goal.
Let’s say you need to become an expert in a certain area before you can advance toward your goal. While you made some major progress in the beginning, now you’re kind of stuck and not getting any better at it. You start to worry that you’ve exceeded your knowledge. And you may start to panic that you won’t get any better. So what do you do? You give up.
When you’ve reached this point in the worrying stage, it’s time to take a step back and reflect back on what you were able to accomplish. It could be something small, like understanding a specific aspect you have been trying to comprehend for a while. But still – it’s an accomplishment worth celebrating! You’ve just got to have the belief that you’re getting somewhere, even when you aren’t physically moving. And keep in mind: Even when you stall, the engine is still running.
Even if you’ve fallen victim to some of these mistakes, you can still come back from them. In fact, you might have fallen victim to every single one of these mistakes. But if you’re still working toward your goal, you’re doing the right thing. Overcoming these mental barriers is key to being successful. And avoiding making the same mistakes over and over again in the future will ensure you’re on your way to success.

What does having a successful business mean to you? Sales, customer relations, a recognizable name – all of these things are important to your business, as well as your success. But on top of dealing with the every day battles at your company, you’ll likely dealing with another battle. What is it? Distractions. Deadly, deadly distractions. They slaughter your productivity and take you far away from your end goal. Even the most successful individuals still deal with their fair share of distractions. But you need to make sure you handle these production-killing mistakes correctly, or your focus will be shot, among other things. Being able to develop focus is the key to a successful business. Why? Because you have to be able to focus on the most important blip on your radar. And that’s your business and its growth. Your business growing and becoming even more successful means you’re growing and becoming more successful. So how can you make sure you keep your focus sharp and directed toward the right objectives? Here’s what you need to do to succeed and develop the right mindset: Revenue is key. There are certain distractions you deal with during the day that can seriously mess with your focus. And when your focus gets all screwy, your profit intake gets all screwy. This is a mistake you literally cannot afford to make, especially on a regular basis. So here’s how you handle it: Steer each and every little thing back to revenue, no matter what. An employee asks you what to do about a certain problem in your company? Think about revenue and direct the convo toward it. Dealing with a really tough customer? Think about revenue and take action from there. Considering launching a new product? Think about how it’ll contribute to revenue. Contemplating hiring a new employee for a specific task? Think about how this could add to revenue. Ready to get your business online with a blog and other social media accounts? Ask yourself – will this help our revenue? Do you see a pattern yet? Your focus always needs to be on revenue. And while you may feel like you’re being greedy, push those feelings of guilt aside. Revenue is the foundation and structure of your business. When you want to have a successful business on your hands, you need to have revenue. Plain and simple. It’s not so much about getting mass amounts of income and becoming a multi-million are – it’s about keeping your business afloat in its industry. You want to be able to shine in a sea of competitors and revenue will help you do that. Take the right steps. Think about what it takes to tackle a truly difficult task, goal or achievement. Odds are, in the past, you didn’t just wing it and do the work necessary when you had a free second or two. You probably buckled down and got to work, pouring everything you have into the projects. And you probably didn’t let anything get in your way – including damaging distractions. And just about any owner of a business will tell you that building their company was certainly considered a huge achievement. Of course, in this day and age, it can be beyond difficult to stay focused. We’ve got emails coming in constantly, phones chirping and singing, and the Internet constantly tempting us with new features and technologies, not to mention the usual obstacles that come with owning your own business. Soooo……. how can you possibly concentrate on important tasks that need your undivided attention? There are a few simple things that you can do that’ll make a surprisingly large impact. Business Insider mentions that a lot of wealthy and successful people generally avoid watching television. And by avoiding, they mean less than 1 hour of TV per day. Think about it – watching television can turn your brain to mush. It’s such a mindless distraction. Instead, read in your free time or try to get some exercise. If possible, limit yourself on emails and phone distractions when you’re working on a high priority task. How do you determine if something is high priority, you ask? Give it a rating of importance based on – yep, you guessed it – its revenue. If a task is a 10, you should have all interruptions safely locked away. Let your employees know you’re involved in something very important and should only be distracted in the event of an emergency. If it’s a 4 or lower task, you can take less extreme measures. Get up and moving. We know that not everyone likes to rise with the sun, especially if you’re up late working or getting caught up on life. But there is something to be said about early morning risers – they get a lot more done with their day! To put it simply – get up earlier and you’ll get a lot more accomplished. Mornings – more specifically, early mornings – should be your power times. You get into work before anyone else and guess what? No one will be there to distract you. No one will be stopping by your office with questions, blowing up with your email with problems or calling your phone constantly. This is the time to buckle down and get stuff down while you can. Plus, your brain is well-rested and ready to go for the day. So take advantage of this time while you have it! Whether you want to get into the office an hour before everyone or two, make this your productive time. Save any tasks that need your sole attention for the early hours. You’ll find yourself getting better results and staying more focused! Go with the flow. When you’re truly focused and moving along at the speed of light, you are in the zone. What does this mean? This means nothing can stop you. You’re going strong and you plan to stay there. Now, you can’t just wake up tomorrow morning and think, Okay, I’m going to flow all day. It doesn’t work like that. If it did, everything would be a lot easier. Instead, take the time to practice developing flow and the three qualities that go along with it: focus, awareness, and of course practice. You can carve your way to success, too. Make sure you have the following three requirements ready to go:
You know exactly what you’re working toward
You will get feedback on the quality of your work right away
You have both the knowledge and the skill it takes to overcome any challenges that may come your way
Got it? You can definitely make the most of this flow, too. Make sure you’re doing something that you enjoy doing. This could be a challenge or even something you consider important. Get rid of all your distractions and focus on the work, not how your flow is feeling. A lot of people determine when their “peak time” is in order to make the most of their flow times. Your peak time is when you’re at your most productive and you’re flowing right through your tasks. Keep a journal and document when you’re at your most productive. It could be morning, afternoon or in the evening. Then plan your most important tasks for this time. Your flow will come naturally and you’ll provide the best results for these items. Grow every day. We know this might sound harder than it seems – but it really isn’t! Focus on getting the right tasks and projects done. A lot of successful people make the mistake of focusing on the amount of things they can get done, rather than the impact or significance of those things. Your time is truly sacred, so make sure you’re making the best investment with it. And by doing some small thing every day to make your business grow, you’re ensuring the best use of your time. Take a step back from it all – everything; the calls, the meetings, the emails, everything that goes along with your day-to-day routine. Now, look at your business from an outsider’s point of view. Are there any hurdles you could move out of your business’s way? How about feedback from customers? Is there a certain product or audience you should be targeting? How can you finally close that tough client? Ask yourself these questions and make it your goal each day to take a step toward answering it. Develop the mindset that each and every day, you will work toward something. Even just reading this article has taken you a step in the right direction – you’re willing to do whatever it takes to make your business grow. Eventually, all the pieces will fall into place and your successes will make it worth all the hard work: you’ll finally be able to land that huge account or you’ll make some awesome changes that’ll completely transform your business. Either way, every business owner gets his or her Wahoo! moment. And all of this comes with staying dedicated, motivated, but most of all, focused.
